A Brief History....

1969 - We began printing from small workshop in Blackheath, South East London. Using a Letter press machine, business stationery and leaflets were supplied to customers from Greenwich, Blackheath and into Central London.

1976 - Our print works moved to Welling. The new larger site, fronted on a popular thoroughfare, allowed the creation of a customer friendy shop front and expansion of machinery to include 2 colour lithographic presses and more print finishing equipment. The more southerly location also encouraged more print trade from North West Kent.

1980's - Realising the demand for instant copying, we began to offer not only A4 and A3 copies but also large format black and white copies for architectural plans and posters.

1987 - To increase the speed of quoting we worked closely with a programmer to produce a print estimating and invoicing package. Built from the ground up, "Fastest" (Fast Estimate, clever eh!?) gave customers clear itemised pricing and gave us a smoother working process which translated to even better quote to print times.

1988 - We took delivery of one of the first colour copiers in the country.
We moved premises again to a newly constucted block in Park View Road, Welling. The increase in space allowed further expansion of our instant copying equipment and with it the retail area.

1995 - Our in-house artwork production went digital. We adopted Windows as our operating system of choice going against the grain of a heavily Apple Mac orientated industry. The experience from which, we can deal with most PC files and quirks you can throw at us.

1996 - The conversion to digital copying began with the purchase of a Fiery RIP that enabled colour printing direct from disk.

1999 - Adobe InDesign was adopted as our in-house desktop publishing program of choice going against the grain of a heavily Quark Xpress orientated industry.
The purchase of a digital large format copier allowed scanning to and printing from AutoCAD.

2001 - All copying equipment at Macaulay Scott became digital.

2003 - We took delivery of a new breed of digital colour copier giving customers access to while-you-wait printing for glossy leaflets and business cards.

2005 - A new computer to plate system was installed. The resulting PDF workflow improved litho printing quality.
Self service copies were offered to the public using a professional grade Canon photocopier.

2006 - We began offering a website service that included design, webhosting and domain name registration.

2010 - Double delivery! We purchased the latest generation of large format mono printer and large format colour inkjet from Oce. The result for you? Quicker printing giving the best quality available, colour A0 scanning, large format colour posters on gloss, satin and matt. Not to mention we can now print your photos on to canvas!

2011 - Your digital print jobs look better than ever with our purchase of a Xerox colour 560. Improved colour reproduction, image resolution, paper handling and a raft of other things that get us excited.

We at Macaulay Scott are ready to deal with almost any printing, copying or website challenge you give us. Our continuing development of both skills and technology are there to make your life easier and your company more successful.
